Fiat Scudo Panel Van

The new Scudo small panel van has been developed in conjunction with Peugeot/ Citroen’s PSA alliance so it can also be found badged as a Peugeot Expert or Citroen Dispatch.  It comes as both long and short wheel base with the added option of the long wheel base being available with both a standard or high roof.

There is a choice of 3 engines which are the same for both the Peugeot and Citroen models. All 3 engines are state of the art second generation Euro 4 engines which are supplied by PSA. The entry level engine is a 1.6 litre 90bhp with a five speed gearbox, which should be ample for getting around the city with light loads. If you need to travel further or are likely to be carrying heavier loads the Dispatch comes with a choice of two 2.0 litre engines.  Both come with 6 speed gearboxes, the smaller offers 120bhp and the larger engine 136bhp which also comes with a self cleaning anti-particulate filter as standard.  All 3 engines offer outstanding performance and low running costs and will require servicing every 20,000 miles or 2 years whichever comes first.

The Scudo panel van can carry a payload of either 1000 or 1200kg depending on the model and also has a platform cab version available which can carry up to 3000kg. The two wheelbases and roof heights offered by the Scudo will suit a large range of needs.  The short wheel base with standard roof is capable of carrying a load space of 5.0m3, the standard roof with long wheel base a 6.0m3 load space and the long wheel base with high roof a 7m3 load space.

The cab interior is of a high standard with UK vans having a two passenger seat bench as standard.  The gear stick is dash mounted in a large housing which is a short reach from the steering wheel.  It’s important to not that the gear stick housing will severely restrict the legroom of any middle passenger and would be impractical for long journeys.

There is plenty of storage space within the Scudo cab, a large indented holding pot on the passenger’s side, a lockable glovebox, small cubbies at both sides of the dash and pull out cup holders.  Above the windscreen there are also overhead shelves which are difficult to reach when you are driving.  Scudo’s standard features include power steering, tiltable steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and CD stereo.  The Scudo is available in 3 specs: Business which is aimed at the fleet market and includes 15 inch wheels and a height adjustable driver’s seat. Comfort level which is designed to improve both comfort levels and security and includes driver’s air bag, 4-channel ABS anti-lock braking system with EBD, remote control central locking, electric windows and height adjustable driver’s seat. Lastly there is Deluxe which is designed for long journeys to give the ultimate in comfort and safety and includes in addition to the standard equipment, front fog lights, twilight, rain sensors and electrically-adjustable heated wing mirrors.
