With over 800,000 Berlingo vans being sold worldwide, Citroen will continue to offer the old style Berlingo model under the banner of the new Berlingo First range. The new modern look Berlingo hopes to build on the outstanding success of its predecessor by offering better performance, greater efficiency and lower running costs. To provide a greater flexibility, buyers can choose form an 11 model line-up that includes 2 vehicle load lengths, 2 trim levels and 3 choices of engine. The new Berlingo can transport loads of 3 meters or more in length (dependent upon the model) and is available as a 2 or 3 seater, although the 3rd seat offers limited leg room and is only designed for short journeys. The smaller L1 version of the new Berlingo has an overall length of 4380mm, that’s 240mm longer and 80mm wider than the original Berlingo with a wheelbase that is 350mm longer. It’s available in 625 or 850kg payload capacities with a 3.3m3 load area that can be extended to 3.7m3 if you order the Extenso three-seat option, which has a folding passenger seat. The L1 and L2 versions of the new Berlingo both share a common 2728mm wheelbase with the larger L2 version having a 248mm longer rear overhang. The Larger L2 Berlingo is 240mm longer than the L1 and has a compartment length of 2,050mm that can be boosted in the Extensor models by 1,200mm to carry longer loads. It’s available in a 750kg payload with a carrying capacity of 3.7m3, which can be expanded to 4.1m3 if you choose the Extenso. The Berlingo comes with a ladder frame bulkhead as standard with a further range of bulkhead options available, including a static or removable half height steel bulkhead that can be topped up with a mesh upper bulkhead section or full-height mesh grille. There are also options for single or twin sliding doors along with a hinged roof flap that enabling long items to be carried while the rear doors are closed (only available on some models). Standard equipment on new Berlingos includes central locking, a stereo radio/CD player, a driver's airbag and height adjustable seat, a trip computer, electric front windows and internally adjustable door mirrors. Those upgrading to the LX model can also benefit from remote central locking, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors and an external temperature sensor. Trafficmaster’s Smartnav satellite navigation is fitted as standard on all L1 X and L2 X models and if you have a Petrol LX model or any diesel models your Berlingo will also have Dynamic Traffic Guidance fitted.
